’’A finished painting looks great. Watching it come to life is even better.’’

End Result

The painting was completed during the event at Helsinki Olympic Stadium and attracted plenty of attention during the breaks. Guests stopped to watch the process, talk with the artists and explore how hand-painted art could be used in advertising and events.

By the end of the day, the finished wall had become a photo spot, with guests taking pictures of themselves alongside the artwork.

Everyone involved was happy with the result. And just as importantly, not a single drop of paint was left behind at the heritage-protected Olympic Stadium. Once we removed the installation, the venue was exactly as we found it.

The same concept can be adapted to different sizes, brands and events. Live painting works well at corporate events, trade shows, product launches and as part of larger advertising campaigns. The finished wall can also be moved to another location and reused after the event.

Could live painting work at your next event?

Customer: Finnish Olympic Committee

In collaboration with: Ocean Outdoor Finland

Target group: Finnish Olympic Committee’s partner network

Objective: To create an engaging experience for event guests and demonstrate how creative brand communication can be part of the journey towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Concept Development

Ocean Outdoor Finland invited us to create a live painting experience for an event hosted by the Finnish Olympic Committee at Helsinki Olympic Stadium. The idea was to give guests something interesting to follow throughout the day while showing how live art can be used creatively in events and advertising.

The theme was Road to L.A. 2028. We developed the visual concept using the Finnish Olympic Committee’s brand guidelines, combining Olympic elements with details inspired by Los Angeles.

The painting was designed to serve two purposes: a live experience during the event and a photo backdrop once completed, where guests could take pictures and share them on their own channels.

Live Painting

We built a portable painting wall approximately three metres wide inside the Olympic Stadium, so there was no need to paint any of the venue’s existing surfaces.

The Road to L.A. design continued from the wall onto a custom-printed floor mat, creating a 3D effect when viewed from the right angle. The mat also protected the stadium floor during painting.

At the client’s request, we combined different painting techniques. We used water-based spray paints suitable for indoor use, along with acrylic paints, working with both spray cans and brushes. Part of the artwork was prepared in advance, while the rest was painted live in front of guests throughout the day.

FunkOn handled the entire production, from concept development and design to wall and floor production, logistics and live painting. Our media team also documented the event and delivered finished photo and video content.
